Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Tapfuma grew up and went to school in Gaborone, Botswana. He later returned to Zimbabwe to complete high school.

Tapfuma spent some time working in the U.K. before he returned to Africa to study at Rhodes University. Graduating with a B.Sc. in microbiology and biochemistry, he quickly became one of the most popular and professional presenters on Rhodes Music Radio – the university’s campus radio.  Recognising his talent, Heart 104.9 FM signed him soon after receiving his demo from Rob Vember.

Tapfuma enjoys reading and plays video games in his spare time. His biggest passions in life are music and sport and he maintains that if he wasn’t a radio personality he would have wanted to be a basketball player.

He describes himself as crazy, affectionate and loyal. His show is informative and interactive and he describes his style as simple but classy.
