Lunga grew up in the Eastern Cape and, like most Transkei boys, was convinced that nursing and teaching were the only career paths worth following. This all changed when he came home one afternoon to an unfamiliar voice on the radio.
Radio Transkei had become Capital Radio and Steve Bishop was “driving the music home”. Within an hour, the plans he had for his life had become radically altered and centered on radio.
Not surprisingly, as soon as he moved to Cape Town to study at UWC, he made sure that he gained the skills that saw him move onto retail radio. The experience gained here paved the way for his joining Heart 104.9fm in 2008.
