sunday with FREEKS WITH Marguerita Freeks (sunday 14H00 - 18H00)

Marguerita Freeks, the Republic of Cape Town’s Minister of Fun, will be going to awesome Cape Town destinations like Table Mountain, Cape Point, the Greenpoint Stadium and Robben Island, as well as hidden jewels that YOU suggest.

She’ll be reminding all citizens that we live in the most beautiful city in the world and make recommendations on where to go, and when to go there. Her Freeks in the city feature runs in Saskia’s Mid Morning Mix and Big Stan’s Big Lunch, and they’ll be crossing to her, wherever she is.

On Fridays, when she finds opportunities to live the best Cape Town life for less, she’ll bring us ”Freeks Best Buys” – this will feature any major sales or exclusive special offers that retailers and venues have on offer.
Freeks in the City will also be doing office busts.  You can nominate one of your colleagues to be surprised at work by the Minister of Fun. Let Freeks know by emailing the details to officebust@1049.fm

Marguerita describes herself as a Cape Town mother city girl through and through.
From her upbringing in Grassy Park and Mitchells Plain to her appreciation later in life of the diverse cultures, customs, faces and places that Cape Town offers – this has always been her true home. And she’s had a lot of opportunity to see other options.

Marguerita is a renowned stage performer, and has toured extensively throughout Southern Africa, Europe and as far afield as Thailand with Madame Zingara, the original Tons of Fun and Ghoema. She started out on radio with Heart 104.9FM as the traffic anchor for Lee Downs on the Afternoon Drive show and moved to the Bokomo Hearty Breakfast with him as his traffic anchor and co-presenter.

Ms Freeks IS a more than just a little freaky as well. Sundays are her favorite day of the week, and you’ll find her celebrating them with family and friends  - playing the djembe drum, the didgeridoo, and singing and dancing.
