Paul Playdon is a born and bred Capetonian – but his British family made sure that he learned to love Manchester United as much as Ajax Cape Town. Whether you call it football or soccer, Paul called it a passion – so much so that he originally wanted to be a sports journalist as a teenager. But, like most teenaged boys, his attention soon wandered.
Luckily for the broadcasting world, his attention wandered over to radio – and stayed there.

Paul got his first taste of the airwaves in 2001, when he got the opportunity to cover the graveyard shift on UCT Radio while studying there. In the 6 years that followed, Paul did stints on UCT Radio’s Chart, Drive, Weekend Breakfast, Comedy, Lunch, and Brunch shows; before hosting the Breakfast Show for over 2 years. All this while studying sound engineering and broadcasting, and holding down various jobs!
