Sam Roy might have been born and educated in Durban, but it’s Cape Town that he calls home. Durban's loss has been our gain for 15 years now – made up of long stints at each of the city’s commercial radio stations.

His love for broadcasting was sparked as a child when his father gave him his first radio at age seven. Inspired by Springbok radio, Sam became a club DJ at the age of 13 (where he got the name “DJ Huggy Bear”) and kept his dream of being on air alive until he got his first show on campus radio.

He still works as a club DJ and runs an events company. In his spare time, you'll find him at gym, reading or watching sport. Sam’s a passionate follower of Formula 1, cricket and soccer. He freely admits to being a die-hard Tottenham Hotspurs fan and a big supporter of Ajax Cape Town and Bafana Bafana.
