When we needed someone to take care of all the KFC Sports Cage’s poor little creatures like lions, sharks and bulls – we naturally chose a microbiologist.

Tapfuma Makina holds a B.Sc. in microbiology and biochemistry from Rhodes University, but what he really graduated with was a love of radio. He was one of the most popular and professional presenters on Rhodes Music Radio, and brought his demo CD to us within hours of arriving in Cape Town.

Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Tapfuma attended primary school in Botswana, High School in Zimbabwe, and spent time working in the UK. Not surprisingly, he has a deep interest in politics and some very strong opinions on the subject.

He loves sport, enjoys reading, and is passionate about music. In case all of this makes you think Tapfuma spends all his time being intellectual and articulate, be warned that very few can equal his slack-jawed vacant-eyed slouch in front of the console of whichever video game he’s currently addicted to!
