Heart 104.9 FM’s Saskia Falken is swopping high heels for walking shoes
Mothers Day Weekend (2009) is around the corner and Heart 104.9FM’s latest mommy, Saskia Falken, is all set to exchange her high heels for walking shoes along with 500 other moms. The Heart 104.9FM Mommy & Me Walk, taking place on Saturday, 9 May at Canal Walk, is an event that is aimed at helping less fortunate moms and kids.
Participating Capetonian mommies will be spending some quality time with their kids and have fun, while helping moms and kids in need. “I think that helping others can also be done in a fun and entertaining way. With everyone leading such busy lives these days, it is definitely an advantage to be able to contribute to charitable causes while spending time with the family” says Saskia Falken, Heart 104.9FM DJ and custodian of the walk. Proceeds raised from this event will assist the Canal Walk Foundation in one of their initiatives that assist in developing areas around education, health and job creation.
Even though autumn has made its presence felt in the form of sniffles and coughs, moms don’t need to worry about being out in the cold during the event. The walk will be an easy 2 laps around the ground floor inside Canal Walk. Life size cartoon characters will also be there to help toddlers and anyone needing some encouragement to make it over the finish line.
Pre registration will take place at Canal Walk this week from Tuesday 5th – Friday 8th May from 9am - 9pm next to the information desk close to entrance 4. Entry is at R30 per mom and kid and will cost R5 for every additional kid. On Saturday moms have to check-in and collect their numbers from 07h15 as the walk starts at 08h15. Kids can get their faces painted while being entertained by clowns before the walk to starts.
While proceeds raised through this walk will go to the Canal Walk Foundation, sponsors have ensured that the focus will still be on spoiling our moms. Each mom will receive a time-out goodie bag when crossing the finishing line for doing their bit to help others.
