Digital Design Academy (Friends of Design - Academy of Arts) in Cape Town is a buzzing and forward thinking design school where all things Adobe are taught, from full time courses to part time, to corporate. We bring people who have a passion for design and the art thereof together and celebrate the talent that we are so lucky to have here in Cape Town.

They have launched an exciting competition, called "Design Bootcamp", which will involve 3 young, skilled and slightly off the wall creatives.

These bright sparks will each be led through 13 weeks of formal, part time technical training in sought after design industry tools (Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Indesign CS5 and Adobe Illustrator CS5), rounded off by Finishing Art for Designers, a technical course on outputting to print accurately. These courses will be given to them for free, giving them a chance that they may not have had, due to monetary constraints, to follow their dream of becoming a designer.

Besides the fantastic training that will be given to them, challenges will be dished out liberally, "Bootcamp Style", where the more creative and different the solution, the better. In addition, they will be capturing their experiences and keeping their online fans (i.e. facebook) up to date via regular blogs and video interviews.

This competition will culminate in a public online Design Off challenge in April 2011, whereby the overall winner will be selected to win by their peers and fans. There are fantastic prizes, including software and an internship, up for grabs for the winner, all helping towards kick starting their creative careers. Submissions for video entries are now open, and close Friday 26 November 2010.  The lucky contestants will be announced on all platforms on Friday 17 December.

Friends of Design are firm believers in nurturing young talent wherever it can be found, and to be able to give this opportunity to a few talented individuals awards them with knowing that they have done something to contribute to the ongoing success of the youth of this country. We trust that you would agree with this aim and consider working with us to promote our campaign. We would love to have you on board, and would of course be open to discussion and /or interviews.
