Santa arrived early this year for children in the Southern Suburbs.  Heart 104.9FM DJs saddled their iron horses to help the Toy Run Trust distribute gifts to children at Maitland Cottage in Newlands and Christel house in Ottery this morning.  The gifts were from the thousands of toys collected at the 27th Annual Toy Run held at the end of last month.

Nick Feinberg and Brandon Leigh from Heart 104.9FM and fellow bikers arrived at their two destinations with roaring bikes.  Impressed with Santa’s new ride the children greeted them not only for the gifts they bear but also to see the impressive vehicles that carried their presents.

“The Charity Toy Run is one of the highlights of my year,” says Brandon Leigh.  “It is the one time of the year that us hardened bikers can show our hearts.”  Nick Feinberg added that the experience of seeing faces light up even under their not so great circumstances makes your heart melt – and it is this sight that makes bikers gather together every year to collect toys for the less fortunate children.

The Charity Toy Run is the largest motorcycling related charity event in Southern Africa.  The project collects and distributes thousands of toys every year, whilst also showing the softer side of motorcyclists.

Brandon Leigh from Heart 104.9FM and fellow bikers Garret Rose and Trevor Vollenhoven  get ready to spread some goodwill and see some smiles.
