We have a vacancy for the following position

Heart FM requires a Radio News Anchor capable of fulfilling all the expectations of a radio news journalist, who is also able to compile and read bulletins live on air.
We’re looking for someone who has a National Diploma or equivalent in Journalism, or in a directly related field, and at least two years’ work experience in the newsroom of a radio station. We’ll only consider applicants without a qualification if you can bring significant relevant experience and proven skills to the table.
It’s a given that excellent writing, interviewing and field reporting skills are required. We also need you to be able to rapidly claim a space on air as a credible source of information for our listeners; reading news bulletins, and sometimes engaging in dialogue with our on-air personalities about the issues of the day.
Your experience at posting news stories to social media, and online through a CMS platform will be a big advantage.
What we want is someone who’s passionate about current affairs, flexible about their daily working times, and committed to the highest standards of journalistic ethics. We’re committed to accuracy above all other considerations.
What we’re offering is a full-time position in a small but powerful newsroom that’s carved a niche as the radio news leader for local content. You won’t be permanently stuck behind a desk: we try to get to the source, and onto the streets to speak to people as much as possible. And you’ll be working for a radio brand with an authentic relationship with its listeners that’s grown into the largest audience for any commercial station in the province.
We’d like our working relationship with you to start as soon as possible.

• A relevant qualification.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a radio newsroom.
• A valid driver’s licence.

• Proficiency with radio news software (we currently use Burli).
• Online and social media news reporting experience.
• A positive attitude and commitment to excellence.
• Your own transport.

Email your cover letter and CV to with the subject line #NewsAnchor/Journalist by 23 March 2018.
If I have not contacted you within 1 week after your application, please consider your application unsuccessful. Albeit we try to respond to all applicants, but due to volume of CVs received, may not always allow us to respond on time.
