Position: Business Development Administrator  (Marketing Intelligence and Product Development)

Purpose of the role: 

This business development role is two-fold – product development of station properties and market intelligence.

Market Intelligence role – provide information, trends and insight around the (trade and consumer) market, the media landscape, audiences / consumers and sectors in order to measure performance and support strategic business decisions that will drive revenue.

Strategically utilise industry data and insights to implement a sales and marketing strategy based on the behaviour of audiences, advertisers, competitors etc. This should translate into key client engagement, including client workshops, reviews, roadshows and seminars.

Formulate commercial opportunities around station properties – Sales support function responsible fro coordinating and implementing all NTR processes and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Coordination

Development

  • To extract and formulate station proposals (written/verbal) into sellable Heart FM documents that will best assist the sales team in realising NTR targets
  • Initiate; capture and distribute feedback on all NTR proposals / Station programming initiatives.
  • Regular (weekly) communication with sales teams around available packages and regular feedback on market forces around offerings.
  • Present new packages/ opportunities to the sales team weekly during training.
  • Collaborating with creative teams in driving and packaging Annual Days; Station promotions and Special Projects/ Sporting events on a quarterly basis.
  • Assist and drive the Product Development process including creating and scheduling new products for the sales teams.
  • Explore and innovative ways of packaging and costing products / promotions that are not based purely on rate cards.
  • Utilise audience insights and post campaign learnings to create products.
  • Attend the daily VIBE meetings to indentity opporutities from ideas
  • Keep abreast of product innovations and new product development -include and package these innovations and share with sales teams.
  • Implement pricing tactics when necessary
  • Co-ordinate and structure proactive creative sales solutions that include online, social media and all channels available to the brand.
  • Cost/Estimate all creative ideas accurately and timeously
  • Adhere to all costing principles and implement rate adjustments as and when they occur.
  • Update and maintain the features lists and extract info for ALL COLLATERAL across brand
  • Shared drive maintenance – regular updating of all sales related documentation/collateral.
  • Monitor competitor activity and analyse products being released by competitors.
  • Monitor and ensure effective Station calendar management by the implementation team to maximise Station sales opportunities and monitor inventory usage.
  • Weekly/Monthly reporting and sales feedback on productivity and products (workflow).
  • Forward planning per quarter across brands to ensure line of sight and timeous packaging of promotions / annual campaigns – Snapshot.
  • Package station opportunities and customise for different channels (Agency, Direct)
  • Use the Product Box to formulate proposals, all packages to be updated with rate increases.
  • Collaborating with Programming and Marketing Teams in driving and packaging Annual Days; Station promotions and Special Projects/ Sporting events on a quarterly basis.
  • Collate all information and supporting tools with products (audio, profiles, proposals, costings)
  • Co-ordinate and structure proactive creative sales solutions that include online, social media and all channels available to the brand.
  • Research opportunities and incorporate market intelligence info
  • Create competitive products for market
  • Identify market trends

Training

  • Product training and communication to CPT, DBN & JHB sales teams
  • Present new packages to the sales team during training
  • Communication with sales teams around available packages and regular feedback to Brands on market forces around offerings

Tracking

  • Monitor, evaluate and report on all product categories
  • Initiate; capture and distribute feedback on all NTR proposals / station programming initiatives
  • Status meetings with a forward view of station initiatives and packages in market
  • Monitor competitor activity and analyse products being released by competitors
  • Ensure all packages are organised and filed that is easily accessible for sales team

Marketing Intelligence

  • Develop and manage a database of prospects aligned to the overall sales strategy – market segmentation
  • Support the sales team in the development of relevant presentations and proposals that will aid in contributing to the overall revenue target
  • Develop and implement relevant sales collateral which enables the sales force to sell better whilst driving revenue budgets and targets
  • Collaborate with all the relevant stakeholders (internal & external)
  • Implement and execute new learnings and build strong relationships for the organisation
  • Evaluate and recommend new insights opportunities and techniques
  • Build, grow and optimise the sales collateral to be more insightful and relevant
  • Strive to be an expert in media user consumption and share knowledge accordingly
  • Work creatively to bring about awareness of opportunities in synergy with marketing and programming departments
  • Scan environment to identify sales opportunities (direct and agency)
  • Work closely with programming wrt to opportunites for clients
  • Attend industry events
  • Monitor and track industry trends and sales patterns in attempt to grow business
  • Monitor competitor trends in order to assist winning business from competitors
  • Re-enforce and support client service culture
  • Identify leads for station opportunities
  • Anaylise data from available platfroms (Nielsens, Telmar, Afstereo, Web)
  • Research clients (Telmar, Adynamix) so that Sales Team are fully equipped when presenting to clients
  • Update the demographic profile documents
  • Analyse RAMs data to formula key insights and information that can be communicated to market
  • Ensure that Sales Team have full understanding of RAMs data with a sales angle
  • Post Campaign Anaylsis to ensure client retention
  • Utilise audience insights and post campaign learnings to create products.

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Ensure that output is well aligned to deliver on the data and analytics
  • Monitor key local and international industry trends and circulate the key information to the relevant stakeholder
  • Strategy Development and Implementation – support the Sales Manager in implementing an analytics and insights strategy aligned to the overall business objectives

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal training to all sales teams on developments and trends

Requirements:

University degree /diploma, plus at least five (5) years within a marketing support role or research experience, preferably within a media or advertising company. Experience within strategic planning and / or experience within the radio field are preferable

Own Transport, Valid Licence,  Travel required

Experience / Aptitude:

  • Ability to draw relevant insights from disparate sources and create collateral / presentations that are aligned with sales and analytics objectives
  • Must be familiar with different research methodologies – quantitative and qualitative, with the view of unlocking key consumer insight and understanding
  • Must have a sound understanding of the media and consumer environment, with specific reference to multichannel marketing solutions. Knowledge about television, radio, print, outdoor, digital and mobile marketing is strongly recommended
  • Understanding of data analysis software, internal and externalg. Telmar / Arianna, Eighty20 XtracT, TGI, Google Analytics, ComScore, Omniture, Mediamind, DFP, etc. would be beneficial
  • Extensive knowledge of key industry metric SAARF, AdDynamics, Media Inflation online, etc.
  • Highly proficient in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Extensive marketing, market research or analyst background

Position: Direct Sales Account Executive

Purpose of the role: To develop and maintain relationships and promote profitable business whilst projecting a positive image of Heart FM in the direct market.

Direct Sales – Account Management

The efficient and effective engagement of Cape Town client base and the achievement of own sales targets (as contracted).

Maximise sales for their own portfolio

  • Meet  own monthly sales targets
  • Weekly prospecting and ensure conversion to sales
  • Sells available advertising time according to the Sales Policy to ensure that income requirements are met and value contributions to clients are ensured and measured
  • Promote long-term relationships with existing clients
  • Achieve the agreed upon weekly  call rate

Product Development and Campaign Management

  • Prepare and documents written proposals and/or presentations used during the sales process
  • Prepare accurate airtime schedules
  • Ensure all booking documentation is completed
  • Source, facilitate and traffic on air elements
  • Prepare completed briefing documents to all stakeholders/ departments
  • Track and monitor campaigns from start to finish

Apply Training and Development

  • Continuously ensure that subject matter knowledge obtained through training is being implemented to improve effectiveness & efficiency
  • Conduct relevant pre-call research and planning

Manage Data/ Information

  • Ensures briefs to marketing/ programming and production are completed timeously and correctly
  • Provide the Sales Manager with an activity report meetings, sales and pipelines business
  • Uses and interprets media surveys and other marketing tools essential to the sales function
  • Implement and follow work flow processes and procedures

Execute Admin Functions

  • Cash in advance on all new business that hasn’t a credit application approved by Finance
  • Keep an active file on every account on your list
  • Airs all business with a signed contract and confirmations
  • Check contracts and figures to ensure that the accurate amounts have been booked correctly
  • Consistently update CRM System

Requirements:

Matric, National Sales and Marketing Diploma. Previous radio/ media experience preferred.

Possession of a valid SA Driving License; Own vehicle and use thereof; the ability to travel using this vehicle as this is a  necessity for the job.

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Knowledge of marketing and selling techniques
